JACKSONVILLE, FLORIDA – Hearts 4 Minds Founder Sheryl Johnson has been awarded the Melody Starr Anne Bishop Community Service Award. The annual award is in recognition of Johnson’s outstanding community involvement and commitment to enhancing and improving the quality of life for others by destigmatizing mental illness, promoting mental health literacy and connecting those in need to valuable resources in the community.

The award was established in 2009 by then outgoing City Council President Ronnie Fussell for unsung community service by a citizen or organization. Melody Starr Anne Bishop was the inaugural recipient, recognized posthumously for her devotion and enthusiasm for the Jacksonville community. The award that captures her spirit, is given annually by the outgoing Council president.

“Knowing how much passion Melody Starr Anne Bishop gave to our community, her neighbors and many causes by such a young age and untimely death, I’m honored to receive this award,” said Sheryl Johnson, founder Hearts 4 Minds. “I’m moved to amplify our platform to break the stigma of mental health illness and help ensure families have the information and resources to live healthy lives. This recognition proves Jacksonville is ready to speak unapologetically for our collective mental health.”
