Gena Coursen was born and raised in Kinsman, Ohio. Gena obtained her bachelor’s degree from Stetson University and dual master’s degrees from Touro College in Finance and International Finance. Gena moved to Jacksonville, Florida in 1998 and where she has made her home for 22 years.

Gena has led a successful professional career serving in roles in the public and private sectors acting in various roles in Information Technology, Compliance, Procurement, Vendor Risk Management, and Facilities for the City of Jacksonville, Ditech Mortgage, and NewRez LLC.

Gena spends her free time volunteering at a large cat rescue, The Catty Shack Ranch, and a no-kill dog and cat rescue, Pet Rescue North. Gena is a Board Member for her homeowner’s association, responsible for the financials and partnership with the City of Jacksonville and the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. Gena mentors recent college graduates and provides no-cost services to low-income community members to build their resumes or practice their interviewing skills.
